Pt Jawaharlal Nehru’s love for children and his solicitude for their welfare are too well known. It was wonder that children all over India knew Pt  Nehru not as the prime minister but as the benevolent uncle- “Chacha Nehru”.

The design of the stamps has been adapted from the commemorative coin of the denomination of one rupee which is separately to be issued on the 14th Nov 1964. The stamp bears the inscription ‘Chacha Nehru’ at the top and ‘Bal Din’ at the bottom.
