“to promote the development of standards in the world with a view to facilitating international exchange f goods and services and to developing mutual co-operation in the sphere of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity”.

Considering the vital importance of standardization in industrial development and promotion of international trade, India has been actively participating in the work of ISO ever since its inception in 1946. The Posts & Telegraphs Department has pleasure in commemorating  this occasion by bringing out a special postage stamp when the 6th General Assembly of the ISO meets in New Delhi on the 9th Nov 1964.
